Just wanted to give a "shout out" to our new friends in Japan who have
been very kind and supportive of our latest album's (E-III) recent introduction
to record stores in their country. Thanks also to those of you in Japan, Italy,
Germany, and elsewhere who have taken the time to track down our back catalog of
albums here on our web site. Takouru, we'll be there as soon as we can bro! We
hope everyone is enjoying all the albums.
Life is fun! We've been having some great shows. I blew up my amp on stage in
January at Brick By Brick, and I say...Who the hell are you if you've never
blown up an amp on stage?!?! Thanks to the very kind and awesome bass player of
Brothers From Another Planet for throwing his amp up for me that night and
saving the show. Two weeks later at rehearsal, I blew it up again. This has been
causing a love-hate relationship between me and my SVT. It's a very, very, big,
bad boy. And it needs to be punished.
In February, we rocked Tio's with a little newly found (and much needed)
glamour, thanks to our new friend and amazing stylist Jonny Desatoff of Clippery
West in San Diego, and some sax help from our friend Daniel. That's sax. The
crowd was great, Brett and Mike were on fire! I played great and looked amazing.
Just kidding about that. Photos to follow soon unless my mascara is (once again)
notably running down my face, in which case, the images will be buried in the
vault with all the other bad ELLIS moments on film over the last decade. I think
if it wasn't for me, all pictures of the band would be good.
Since "new friends" seems to be the theme of this posting, it's a good
time to mention Marcos Curiel. You may recognize his name from the pioneering and
popular, Grammy-award-winning, rap-metal force P.O.D. As the longtime guitar
player of the group, Marcos has learned a great deal about good song-writing and
producing. In February, I was pleased to be invited to work on his new
record... a side project called the Accident Experiment, which is being
engineered by Steve Russell, our long-time resident technician and official,
behind-the-scenes, fourth band member.
I did some ambient vocal work in a few areas and played a little flute on one
song. I understand I'm the first and last voice you'll hear on the record. I
also sang the back up part to a very hip and well-timed remake of Give Me
Shelter by the Rolling Stones. My whole life I've wished I was the girl that
could have sang that part. Now I am. Dreams come true in weird ways.
Marcos' new singer, Pete, is incredible, as is the whole band. The album is
destined to be a smash and I'm proud to be a tiny part of it.
Another appearance on a big, famous person's new album is looming this year.
More on that as things develop.
In the meantime, ELLIS is rocking. We're shooting for new-album completion by
May. The next extraordinary live ELLIS event is Thursday, March 20 at Canes Bar
and Grill in Mission Beach (San Diego). It's a great rock room with a fantastic
sound system right on the beach... which is always easy on the senses and
soul. Check our EVENTS page for more show information. It's a school night, but
we hope you can sneak out for this tight, power-packed, super set of ELLIS tunes
from E-III and future albums. If not, stay tuned here for more upcoming show
information.
We hope to hear from you sometime. Don't be shy. Mike, Brett and I can all be
reached at our names@ellismusic.com. (Stacey@EllisMusic.com,
Brett@EllisMusic.com,
Mike@EllisMusic.com). Drop us a line.
Be good to one another. Turn the music up and snuggle hard.
