This information is provided by Ellis Music as a convenient resource for our customers. Though we do our best to provide accurate information, changes to audition lists are rarely communicated to Ellis Music. We STRONGLY recommend that students confirm the required audition music with their music teachers. You should also refer to the individual All State, New England, or district websites, as those are the ONLY official sources of information about required repertoire.
A note regarding music auditions: The primary audition solo listed is typically just one of the requirements for auditioning to be part of an ensemble. Most auditions also involve scales, sight-reading, and/or other required music. Audition requirements vary for each festival. For answers to your questions about auditions, talk with your school music teacher.

Unlike All State and district auditions, the New England Music Festival does not have a single "required selection" for each instrument or vocal part, but rather allows performers to choose from a variety of approved solos, and there is no audition but rather a performance that may qualify the student for participation in a concert festival.
For a list of acceptable solo repertoire and more information, visit the New England Music Festival (NEMFA) website (link opens in a new window). Information on the Ellis Music website is based on the repertoire lists posted on the New England Music Festival website as of August 2023.
